Take 5 Artists.

KEVIN ALEXANDER

Kevin interprets landscapes in and around his home in Kenilworth as well as the larger more open spaces he visits during his travels around the UK. His style could be described as ‘semi abstract’ but really, it’s just about his representation of the way he sees what is in front of him by the use of colour and texture. It’s all about capturing an atmosphere of the subject, rather than a photographic representation.

LINDSEY ATTWOOD

Lindsey mainly paints in acrylics and is greatly inspired by the effect of light on a subject, whether it is a landscape, seascape, or people. Her aim is to capture the extraordinary in the ordinary. She also enjoys calligraphy and particularly the art of illumination using gold leaf. She runs classes, workshops and tutors one to one in both painting and calligraphy

PAULA PERRY

Paula works with oils to create abstract and semi-abstract paintings inspired by the natural world. Her pieces develop from an intuitive, instinctive, and experimental approach to mark making, and are usually bold and vibrant in colour and design. Paula provides original art at affordable prices, framed prints and greetings cards, and also works on a commission basis.

JO RICKETTS

Inspired by Art Deco and the natural world, Jo creates beautiful and unique pieces of art by fusing and bending glass. Jo is fascinated by the way that reflection, refraction and diffusion in glass alters our perception, and continues to experiment with ways of using the kiln to create sculptural objects which showcase the beauty of glass.

Jo’s enthusiasm for fusing is infectious and she enjoys running workshops for beginners, or for those with some previous experience of cutting glass, in her studio in beautiful gardens in the Warwickshire countryside.

JACQUI SMITHSON

Work inspired by form, shape and texture found in the natural world are at the heart of Jacqui’s artwork. Her original felt pieces, printed fabrics, vessels and wearables are often enhanced by stitch and free machine embroidery to give finer definition to her pieces.

Jacqui teaches a variety of workshops from her home studio. Please see her website for full details. www.jacquismithson.com

About Lucy Burton

I paint regularly 'alla prima' in oil paint, always aiming to produce a piece of art that is full of character and colour: be it a landscape, portrait or still life. A good composition and the freedom to experiment with colour and interesting brush marks is what inspires me most. I enjoy teaching others and run regular oil painting workshops. I've exhibited in 'Warwickshire Open Studios' , Leamington 'Artfest' and taken part in 'Landscape Artist of the Year' as a wildcard artist.
