Terms and Conditions

1. You must be aged 18 years or above at the time of application and currently reside in Warwickshire or the immediate surrounding areas
2. You must be an emerging artist. This bursary is designed for artists in the early stages of their career and we define an emerging artist as someone who is within the first five years of their professional practice. This includes:
   • Recent graduates (from any creative discipline).
   • Self-taught artists beginning to exhibit their work publicly.
   • Individuals returning to art after a career break or a career change
3. You have never taken part in Leamington Studio Artists bursary programme before.
4. The work you will be displaying is all your own work.
5. LSA will only award the full complement of four bursaries if the judging panel, appointed by the LSA trustees, believes the work meets the required standard.
6. The deadline for submissions is  31st January 2026; artists will be notified if successful 14 February 2026.
7. You will be offered up to four exhibition opportunities throughout the bursary year with all hanging fees and sales commissions waived.
8. All unsuccessful applicants will be notified by 14 February 2026.
9. A panel of experienced LSA artists will decide from the applications who are to be awarded the bursaries. 
10. Bursary Payments and Reporting: The bursary will be paid in three installments: an initial £150 to fund the preparation of artworks; a second payment of £150 on 30th June 2026; and a final £200 upon project completion. To trigger the final payment, awardees must submit a project report by 30th November 2026 detailing their funded activities, a summary of spending, and the impact the bursary has had on their artistic development.
11. These payments will be paid directly into the artist's chosen bank account.
12. If you are awarded a bursary, you agree for your information and images of your work to be used to promote your involvement in our newsletters, external press, website and social media channels.
13. LSA reserves the right to edit and crop images for use in promotional items.
14. Copyright of all images submitted for use to LSA will remain with the artist or the authorised image maker. 
15. Please be aware that we will use a selection of these images for marketing purposes and to promote LSA. 
16. Please make sure that you either own the copyright or have the permission of the copyright holder to use any images.
17. Awardees must submit a short report upon completion, detailing fund usage and the impact on their artistic development.
18. Professional Development & Volunteering: In addition to the required support for your specific bursary exhibition, awardees are encouraged to volunteer at an LSA gallery (such as Jephson Gardens or the Art Room). We view volunteering as a vital part of your artistic development, providing hands-on experience in gallery management, curation, and public engagement within the local arts community.
19. Awardees will be invited to join a dedicated WhatsApp group for peer support and progress sharing. You will also be expected to provide brief periodic updates to the LSA bursary coordinator[s] to ensure your project is progressing as planned.
