Performed Reading of “The Waste Land”

If you are thinking of creating a work for the Response to “The Waste Land” Open Competition  and would like to hear “The Waste Land” poem by TS Eliot then please come to the Performed Reading at Coventry Cathedral on Friday 14th September 2018. Doors open at 6pm and the performance starts at 6.30pm and is FREE.  This is the opening event for the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum exhibition Journeys with “The Waste Land”, which has provided the impetus for the LSA Open Exhibition.

The free exhibition at the Herbert will be open to the public 15th September – 18th November 2018.

The performance is directed by Chris Stanley and the actors are Luke Beard and Imogen Parker, seen here at a rehearsal. There are many voices in the poem, originally entitled “He Do the Police in Different Voices” by Eliot, and a performed reading helps to differentiate the various characters and interpretations in the text. These are varied and controversial, but what is often considered a difficult poem to get to grips with is brought to life in a reading.  Not always depressing the poem is funny too!  Come and be entertained!
