I am a 19 year old figurative artist based in Kineton, Warwickshire, and a current student at University of Leeds, studying BA Fine Art with History of Art. As an artist, I represent themes of mental health and deep emotion, such as dissociation, loneliness and connection. I predominantly create large scale paintings with acrylic paint and chalk pastel or oil paint and oil pastel. These mediums work together to create a smooth yet disfigured structure of the human body, with the under-sketch of pastels, it allows pockets of colour to peek through the black and white paint layered on top, indicating inner emotion coming through to the surface. My artwork portrays uncanny and distorted human forms, suggesting these themes by isolating the subject to a mere object by removing features of identity, such as the face and hands. My work emphasises bone structure and the internal form to represent the emotion from within coming to surface. Recently, I have been studying animal forms and their connection to the human form.
