My Profile
- Basic InformationProfile DetailsJonnyAmbrose
Since 1994, I have been creating contemporary artworks inspired by aerodynamic forms and maps. I have largely been creating sculptures in the past 10 years, including trophies for high end automobile events, such as the Mille Miglia, The Quail USA, and the International Historic Motoring Awards. 2026 has seen the return of colour and 2d artworks in a 6 week London solo exhibition and a forthcoming 4 week solo exhibition at Coventry’s Herbert Art Gallery. Previously my work has been shown in Paris, California, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Glasgow and London. My works aren’t always obvious as to what the subject matter is. I seek to create fascination for the viewer; changing compositions whilst looking around a sculpture, or uncovering the hidden relevance of every line and shape in detailed works. Recent work has been inspired by my long fascination in the work of Britain’s Camouflage Directorate during WWII where over 200 artists and designers were relocated to Leamington Spa (my home for the past 25 years) to disguise Britain’s buildings and ships from enemy aircraft, using the clever usage of bold patterns, colours and shapes.
