Emma is an Artist and Plein Air Painter working in oils. Painting Plein Air is her preferred way of working, being outside with nature and capturing her chosen view has many benefits including a sense of 'being there' or creating a moment in time. Light, colour and atmosphere are her main inspirations, painting on the beach or in a field, whatever the weather or time of day. Emma also works from her studio painting her photographs taken on travels or a walk. Still life objects and floral work are included in her portfolio, where she often paints from her garden studio in warmer months. In addition Pet Portraits are a popular painting subject for Emma, working to commission and capturing a much loved pet gives her a different way of working and connection with her clients. ........... Emma enjoys the buttery consistency of oil paint and how it can be applied and blended. Her favourite colours are Ultramarine Blue, Yellow Ochre and Burnt Umber with a bit of Naples Yellow or Lemon Yellow for those honey highlights. She never uses black in her work, making her own blacks and darks gives her work a soft but realistic colour palette.
