Chandna was formally trained in Fashion Design, and along side always loved painting. It has taken years of persistence; however she feels the reward is in the journey.
Her preferred medium is oils as they best suit her style of painting. The loose and fluid nature of oils, give flexibility along with depth of colour and intensity. Singular bold colours inspire her. Moreover, oil paints capacity to create layers leads to vibrant shades, perfect for blending into dazzling array of contrasting tones. This leads to the desired drama and emotion.
Chandna paints from travel memories of childhood places that have left an impression. She plays with colour and texture to portray surreal places; often romanticised and adorned to a glorious state.
Over the years she has painted Landscape, Architectural, Figurative and Still life. However, It is her desire to further explore this genre of Mythological Gods Goddess and abstract Symbolism in her future works.
Along with ethereal landscapes; heritage, symbolic and mythological, jewels and embroidered tapestries often form part of her paintings. She strongly believes in the philosophy of Balance; between opulence and restraint, nature and man, tradition and modernity. And she hopes her paintings always reflective of the same.
