My artform is ceramics. I have attended ceramic classes for 13 years at Royal Leamington Spa College where I have learned different building and decoration techniques. My aim now is to progress in my own studio at home.
I mainly make stoneware fired decorative pots experimenting with the malleability of the clay.
I am inspired by nature, plants, geological strata and stones. I enjoy using oxides and slips and experimenting with texture.
Recently I have started experimenting with mixed media, adding copper, raffia, textile or willow to my pots. I find that the addition of these materials with their own malleability, texture and varied colours, produces an extra dimension of embellishment.
