POPI KOUTENTAKI: Born in Crete, living and working in the UK. Her paintings are lines and drops of multitudes of colour which fill the canvas in the process of freeing the form which previously existed. When colour is omitted black and white are the strength of the works. Just like life which is full of colour but sometimes is only black and white. Always filled with symbols which are either hidden or there in pure sight. Life lessons painted on canvas. Her love for art became apparent at the age of four.. Drawing portraits at the age of ten. She studied Art and Design in Akron University and experienced portrait painting with portrait artist Bill Kufahl in Akron Ohio. In Crete she studied on her own searching and experimenting with many different materials and techniques. She worked with Greek artist George Thomas Georgiades and other artists and learned the ancient art of loom weaving and metal embossing. She studied Art and Design as a mature student at WCG Warwickshire college. At Malvern College learned Eco printing and paper making and Art Therapy at Royal Leamington Spa College with Jane Sheuer. Exhibiting in Greece, USA, France, Italy and Cyprus. Has taught art for many years and worked with artists and municipalities creating workshops and painting murals for private and public spaces.
