Abstract Expression is an inspiring exploration of the dynamic and ever-evolving landscape of abstract art. This open competition invites LSA members to push creative boundaries, presenting bold new approaches and highlighting emerging trends within the genre. Artists are encouraged to share their personal interpretations of form, colour, and line through a wide variety of mediums, including painting, sculpture, digital art, and installation.
By challenging traditional ideas of representation, the selected works aim to draw viewers into a journey of discovery—sparking emotional responses and fostering deeper connections with abstract expression. Join us as we celebrate the power of abstraction and the limitless potential of the human imagination.

Key Dates:
- Submissions open: Tuesday 9th December
- Submissions close: Tuesday 23rd December at 12 midnight
- Notification of results: Wednesday 7th January
- Artwork drop-off/curation: Monday 12th January 2026, 10–11am at JGG
- Exhibition dates: Wednesday 14th January – Sunday 8th February
- Preview and prize giving: Saturday 17th January, 1:30–3pm at JGG
Artwork Requirements:
Each artist may submit one artwork only, with a maximum size of 50 × 50 cm including the frame. These dimensions will be strictly enforced, so if your piece exceeds the limit, please choose a smaller abstract work for submission.
Artists may also include up to four browser prints priced at £20 each or £5 per print.
