Location: LSA Art Room, Springboard Studios, Lower Mall, Royal Priors, Leamington Spa.

Sketching out our chosen composition on the canvas or board, we will look at ways of applying the paint in a dynamic and interesting way: focusing on colour mixing, brushwork and composition.  You can work in either acrylics or oils.

Materials provided: Bird and Butterfly reference images.

What to bring:

  • An 8” x 8” or 12” x 12” canvas or board (or buy from Lucy on the day for £2.50/ £5)
  • A selection brushes eg. Rosemary Ivory Short Flats nos. 2,3,5, Ivory Filbert size 0
  • A selection of artist quality paints oils or acrylics eg. Daler Rowney starter set (or Lucy can supply paint at a cost if £4 to be paid on the day)
  • Palette knife – eg. Winsor and Newton size 22
  • Paper Palette and a box to take your work home in
  • Oils only: A jar and some low odour thinners/ white spirit substitute for cleaning your brushes, some rags or plenty of tissues to wipe brushes clean

Optional extras:

  • ‘Liquin’ painting medium if working in oils
  • ‘Stay-Wet’ palette if working in acrylics

  3. Non-Attendance
    If you do not attend and have not arranged for someone to attend in your place, your booking will be considered forfeited and no refund or transfer will be available.

This workshop is designed for and open to participants aged 18 years and over. A place may be booked for a young person aged 16 or 17, providing they are accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18 who is also booked and attending the workshop. Please view our safeguarding policy.
