Course outline:  Join textile artist Penny to make a stunning wall hanging using tapestry weaving techniques with a large needle on a frame loom.
You will spend a restful session learning how to design and make a unique wall hanging and choose from a variety of ‘stitches’ that you will be able to use in the future.
These range from plain or tabby weave, basket weave or hopsack and twill. Experiment with interlocking shapes and try soumak stitch too. Wow!
They are easy peasy and the fun is in the repetition. You can also spend your time just focussing on colour with plain weave. It’s all about the enjoyment of the process.

Refreshments are included in your day. You may wish to bring your own lunch or there are many local shops to pop out to for a sandwich.

I bring a huge variety of wools but feel free to bring your own colours too. Nothing is off limits with this joyful weaving – sticks and sparkles can all be added too 🙂

Type of medium used within the workshop: 100% wool, silk, commercial recyled acrylic wool, wooden sustainable equipment

Materials provided: Various wools and fibres.

Materials participants should bring: Some favourite threads or wools – OPTIONAL
