Mary Usher Thomas
Mary is a local artist, and she has been painting for many years. Mary is a member of Leamington Studio Artists (LSA) and Coventry & Warwickshire Society of Artists (CWSA).
She has named this exhibition “Reflections of the past”, as her paintings are of favourite places she has visited over the years that hold special memories for her.
Mary enjoys working in acrylic, oil, watercolour and pastel. She also enjoys the challenge of experimenting with new techniques and mediums.
Pat McHale
‘Nature’s Gift’
Pat McHale’s artwork is inspired by what he refers to as “The Great beauty of the world we inhabit”. He endeavours to depict this in his work.
Beautiful landscapes are nature’s gift to us, and as the writer and naturalist Cillian Roden described it: “Nature is achingly beautiful and we haven’t got a clue why”.
Using the ancient medium of woodcut, Pat aims to capture the spirit of a landscape using simple graphic shapes, unlike a photograph or a photo realistic painting.
Pat’s woodcuts are created in his studio. The birch plywood plates are carved using hand tools and the prints are made by hand using oil-based inks.
