As I’m sure you are aware the LSA Art Room has been nominated for Muddy Stilettos Warwickshire’s best gallery. We know everybody is caught up in the excitement of doing well in this competition (as is the Board of Trustees) but could we remind everybody that they are only allowed to vote once. Please don’t be tempted to vote several times. If we don’t obey these rules the LSA Art Room could be disqualified.

Warwickshire Open Studios Promotional Exhibition
New exhibition at East Lodge commencing Wednesday 24 May until Sunday 11 May. This exhibition is to promote Warwickshire Open Studios. Some LSA members who are taking part in Warwickshire Open Studios are exhibiting to promote their venues. A wide variety of wonderful art is on display. East Lodge open at usual times. Please do come and visit and collect your WOS catalogue.
Collection of artwork from East Lodge to be on Sunday 11th June between 3 and 4pm
East Lodge artists during WOS are Sue Southorn, Sonia Bublaitis, Ian Mattingley, Lynne Gudgeon, Caroline Fraser and Maddie Webb. WOS exhibition runs from Saturday 17 June until Sunday 2 July
ART IN THE PARK meet up event on Thursday 6th July at 7pm at a venue in Leamington (tbc).
PLEASE RESPOND BY WEDNESDAY 24TH MAY
We’re looking to offer all artists a “meet up” event on Thursday 6th July, 7pm at a venue (tbc) in Leamington. It’ll be a chance for all artists to network with each other, and we’ll be running some training sessions throughout the evening. The training will cover (amongst other things) the following key topics:
Preperation & planning for Art in the Park Festival
Stand presentation
Social media on the run up to & during the festival
Mailouts & newsletters
We estimate each session to take around 20-30 minutes or so, with a heavier focus on social media from our specialist marketing team, so the evening will wrap up around 9.30pm.
NOTE: THERE ARE MANY LSA ARTISTS WHO DO AITP, BUT THERE ARE VENUE AND COST IMPLICATIONS REGARDING NUMBERS. IF THE ORGANISERS FIND THAT THEY HAVE MORE SPACES FOR NON-AITP ARTISTS THEN THEY WILL COME BACK TO YOU.
If you’re interested in coming along – please could you let Louise Whiteley know by Wednesday 24th May, so she can secure the right size venue? If you would like to attend and have any specific points you’d like help and support with relative to #AITP2023 – please do let her know, and we may be able to build this into the training sessions.

A 5 week ‘Experimental Techniques’ Workshop starting Thursday 25th May 2023 , 7-9pm,
Venue – LSA Artroom, Satchwell Court, The Priors, Leamington Spa. CV32 4QE.

Course Outline:
Together we will work through a stage-by-stage process of experimental techniques, mark making using mixed media leading to creating your own abstracted seascape or landscape. I hope to inspire you with some new ideas and techniques to take away with you and apply to your own work.
Cassie workshops
Cassie Leedham will be hosting her next round of oil painting workshops at the LSA Art Room, Monday evenings 7pm-9pm, starting on June 5th. This is a 6 week oil painting workshop for beginners and improvers, focussing on portraits and figures. Cassie breaks down the mysteries of oil painting and puts them into simple steps for you to follow.
Throughout the 6 weeks you will be learning how to start a painting, how to mix colours, how to see like an artist and break things down into simple shapes, and how to make mistakes that lead to real improvement. You don’t need to have any experience for these classes and she particularly loves teaching people who think they “can’t paint / draw”.
