This exhibition presents a series of artworks including oil paintings, cyanotype prints, line prints, water colours and oil pastels that document my recent malaria fieldwork in rural Kenya. I am a PhD student at the University of Warwick, based in LeamingtonSpa, researching malaria. In January, I travelled to a rural village in Kenya to collect mosquitoes for our research.

The artworks capture the landscapes, ecology, and process of our sampling work in a visual “fieldwork diary.” Alongside the artwork, I will include clear, accessible text panels that explain the scientific research and its global significance in preventing the spread of malaria. The exhibition aim is to make scientific research accessible and engaging to wider audiences, particularly those who may not normally engage with science, by merging visual art and scientific storytelling.

The final selection of works is still to be confirmed and can be tailored to the available gallery space. Current pieces range from A5 to A2 in size, on both canvas and paper, and will be paired with explanatory text panels to provide context.
