Beverley Riddle
Beverley is a Stratford based artist who started studying Art when her children became teenagers. After completing a Foundation Course in Art and Design, at Birmingham Institute of Art, she decided to embark on a BA (Hons) course at Solihull college, under the UCE. She graduated in 2010.
Since then, she has been painting and exhibiting locally, as a Solo Artist, as part of a group and as a member of local Art Societies. She was painting at the Artists Workhouse in Studley, where she shared a studio with a friend and fellow artist. This however, has now closed and she now paints in her small studio at home.
As an artist, she gets her inspiration from nature, colour and texture. She uses various textural and painting techniques to create exciting and interesting images, and a range of surfaces. She is primarily inspired by texture and the eroding and decaying of nature and buildings over the passing of time. Her main medium is acrylic paint but also uses inks and mixed media. In the past she has worked in series; old doors, trees and buildings. During the lockdown period she painted a series of tulip paintings inspired by some flowers she was given after the loss of her Mum.
Her main research is taken from photos, creating impressionistic work. Influences include Van Gogh, Pre Raphaelites, Monet and David Hockney.
Denise Fuell
In my work I am seeking to interpret nature and buildings in a semi-abstract or impressionist/stylised form.
An architectural quality, composition, and colour play a major part in my work, working in a broad and varied range of materials: acrylic paint, inks, collage etc.
I obtained my degree as a mature student, and am a BA Fine Art graduate.
