Take 5 are five very different artists, all based in Kenilworth. The have all exhibited at several local events including Art in the Park, Warwickshire Open Studios, the Kenilworth Arts Festival and The Art Room. This will be the 3rd time they have exhibited together at East Lodge and the exhibition will feature a wide range of original paintings, glasswork, textile work, prints and cards.
The five artists are:-
Jo Ricketts, Fused Glass Jo is inspired by Art Deco and the natural world. She creates beautiful and unique pieces of art by fusing and bending glass. She loves to experiment with ways of using the kiln to create sculptural objects which showcase the beauty of glass.
Jacqui Smithson, Mixed media, Painting, Printmaking, Textiles Jacqui’s new collection of artworks has been inspired by shape, colour and texture found in nature. Alongside her felt making, she has more recently been exploring the processes of eco printing to make one off pieces of art. Eco printing is a process by which the colours and shapes of leaves and natural plant material are transferred on to fabric through boiling or steaming.
Paula Perry, Painting Paula works with oils to create abstract and semi-abstract paintings inspired by the natural world. Her pieces develop from an intuitive, instinctive and experimental approach to mark making, and are usually bold and vibrant in colour and design.
Lindsey Attwood, Painting & Calligraphy Lindsey is a painter and calligrapher. Her recent paintings have been inspired by the theme of movement and drama, particularly the seascapes that were created after a visit to a stormy Hastings on New Year’s Day. Light and atmosphere play an important part in Lindsey’s work. Her calligraphy is often used within an image or painting. She teaches groups and individuals as well as doing bespoke commissions.
Kevin Alexander
Kevin interprets landscapes from around Warwickshire as well as the larger more open spaces from around the UK. The exhibition will feature works from the natural landscape as well as the fusion between the natural and urban. His style could be described as ‘semi abstract’ but really, it’s just about his representation of the way he sees what is in front of him by the use of colour and texture.
